Graphite Drawing

I often look at art to inspire my photography both in-camera and when processing images. To gain a better insight I decided to have a go at drawing and painting using my photographs as subjects. The first finished works are graphite drawings. I wanted to see how marks can create shape and form that looks realistic in two dimensions.

The method and materials used for completing the drawings include: freehand sketches using the grid method as a guide to scale and perspective; 2H, HB, and 2B Derwent graphite pencils; a mechanical pencil for fine detail; fine detail, pencil and kneadable erasers; and a variety of blending stumps.
